Last stop of 2023, all change please.

Las Vegas was very good, wasn’t it? An actual race biggrin. Now we’re in Abu Dhabi to finish a rather dull season, although all credit to Max and Red Bull Racing for making it that way, and wooden spoons to Ferrari and Mercedes for the same.

Expect more Red Bull/Max domination but It will be interesting to see whether Ferrari can overtake Mercedes for 2nd in the Constructors’ Championship, and if McLaren can remain ahead of Aston Martin after its poor showing in Las Vegas. The poll is for the win as things seem to have closed up a bit.

Thanks for all the contributions to the race threads over the year, we might not always agree but we all share a love for the sport.

Here’s to a great race!

Thanks PiaP!

Hope your recovery is over/almost done.

Here's hoping this is as absorbing as Wey-gas!

Thanks PiaP for these threads all year.

And so we come to the end of another season, one which looking back will be seen as massively dominant in the same way as the Schumacher years, but looking behind that top podium step has actually been one of the closest seasons in years, with 11 drivers from six teams having stood on a podium (Hi Lance, the odd one out).

The big story of this race is going to be the fight for 2nd in the Constructors’ between Mercedes and Ferrari, with only four points separating them as we go into the final event.

My personal ‘home’ race, but I won’t be going this year, the event completely sold out - even after it became obvious the titles would have been decided a couple of months ago. Will watch from a pub in one of the hotels close by, and perhaps gatecrash an after-party!

Thanks for this and all the threads this year PiaP, hope your recovery is going well, end of the season, and I must say that I’m not sorry to see it go, all credit to RB for what has been achieved, however, for me personally it’s all tainted due to what has happened on and off the track for the last few years, just my opinion and I’m sure there are people out there loving the dominance.

Let’s hope 2024 is closer, as I want to see a close, but fair, fight for race wins and the championships between multiple teams smile

Not a prolific poster but I am an avid reader of these threads so just wanted to say many thanks to PiaP for taking the time to put them up, it's very much appreciated.

It's been a weird season for me.

On the one hand quite tedious due to the RB dominance (but congratulations to them on building a monster of a car), but much as we've done on the voting option on the threads I've moved Max to one side and then somewhat bizarrely for me, thoroughly enjoyed the race for second!

Fingers crossed for closer racing at the front next season but I fear it may be a forlorn hope.

Enjoy the last race of the season everyone thumbup

And good luck from me too PIAP ... and thanks for sterling work with the OPs this year.

Hoping for something other than a Max win so we can spend winter dreaming of a closer season next year.

Thanks PiaP! Grateful for all of the work you've put in to opening these threads all year. Also, glad to hear you're nearly fully recovered from your recent mischief!

As usual, I can't see past a Max win without either a major incident. I think that McLaren and Mercedes will win their respective battles, but it's close enough for only one bit of poor luck to swing either of those.

I also wonder whether one of the lower teams could have an unexpectedly excellent weekend and instigate a position swap:

7 - Williams - 28 pts
8 - AlphaTauri - 21 pts
9 - Alfa Romeo - 16 pts
10 Haas - 12 pts

Unlikely, and I'd be glad to see Williams remain top of that gaggle.

I'm going for a Max win, with Perez 2nd, and Carlos 3rd.
I think Ferrari will beat Mercedes for 2nd in the constructors, as either Lewis or George will have an incident (crash, mech failure or bad strategy)

I think a RB 1-3 again, but with a Mercedes taking the remaining podium place.

Mr Poke, thank you for your efforts this year in organising the PH F1 threads - a prince among men! biggrin

Another thanks to PIAP, much appreciated the work you put into this through the year.

Hoping for a good race to close off the season!

Similar time between the re-start of the season at Zaandvort and now, then it is between now and the start of the new season so will be around before we know it!
