Bought a thermomix a few months ago when we were having our kitchen done. 12 weeks cooking in the utility wasn't going to be much fun so decided to get one on recommendation from a friend. It's not cheap, you can buy a good oven for less, but it's the best kitchen gadget I've ever had. It weighs, chops, sautés, cooks, whips...and has a self cleaning function. I use it constantly for soufflés, paella, risotto, sauces, curries, slow cooks and baking. Definitely didn't need it, now wouldn't be without it.

This is going to be my better half's Christmas present.

We're both foodies, but she's got a disability affecting her joints so there's some tasks she really struggles with during hr week.

Intention is this'll enable her to do much more, easier - and we can experiment at the weekend with some of the really fancy stuff it can do.

Glad to hear you think it's worth it!
Another vote for the Thermomix. Got it second hand, boxed, on eBay for £500 IIRC so there are second hand bargains to be had. I recommend getting the peeler attachment, it'll peel 800g of potatoes in 2 mins, with zero effort from you, and the peelings are so fine, that they pour straight down the sink plug.

Great tip, thanks.

Local advisor is the wife of an ex colleague. Went round theirs on Saturday to have a demo and a few beers. Very, very impressed so ordered. Getting the peeler free and will likely pick up a second hand Friend via her contacts in the new year. Unit is coming with the new Sensor (which is very clearly a licenced Meater).

Getting pretty obvious that whilst this year I'm getting away with getting daughter an airfryer and some pans for taking to uni, next year she'll be wanting a thermomix too... Only once she's out of shared accommodation though!

So whilst looking for a few presents for friends this christmas I look through various 'Every Day Carry' sites - alas as they're mainly american they're about knives and tactical flashlights and wallets which aren't really 'every day' usage.

What I did come across I've ended up buying for myself. Utterly frivolous

I've liked the look of those ratchet mechanism rings and thought this probably takes it a step further.

0 magnets operates as the ring mode, and this toy can be smoothly rotated with a gentle flick;
1-2 magnets operate as the ratcheting mode, providing continuous and dense magnetic feedback which is similar to a ratcheting device;
3-5 magnets operate as the Buddha bead mode, providing a moderate feedback intensity that simulates the experience of flicking Buddha beads and making us experience the inner peace;
6-8 magnets operate as the strong magnetic mode, providing a passionate collision of magnets in the cavity along with a crisp sound.

Edit : I'm doubtful on the 'inner peace' thing...

I do enjoy product descriptions that have been translated from Cantonese to English via Elbonian.

But just imagine how much better it will be with the superior strength-to-weight ratio and high-temperature performance of titanium smile

Oh dear, I appear to have bought a new Apple Watch, nothing wrong with the old one but it was getting a bit battered…

It’s only took me about 4 hours to get it paired to my phone with updates etc.

Mine arrived today. Went and tested it just now works very well. For £23 it’s definitely worth the money I’d say
Showed this to my colleague as I know he likes his gadgets. He's only gone and bought it!

We both work night shift together doing security work. Absolutely knew he wouldn't be able to resist!
Just bought this. Don't know why!
