Yeah, the sort of lads who go winter camping in Wales seem like the right sort to me.

Tragic. frown
Absolutely.

I had hope when I heard air ambulances were landing nearby. Just the worst outcome.

Such a sad story, when the missing lads flashed up on my phone I really hoped they'd be found having just lost signal, I really didn't expect such a heartbreaking outcome, thoughts are with their family and friends.

I’m originally from Shrewsbury and know the school these lads went to.

This news really has saddened me, probably as I have a 17 old boy who’s just started driving.

Dreadful.

My wife has just got home, one of her best friends is mum to one of their friends (we live SY)

Apparently 4 decent lads. Such a waste.

I was the same at that age, off in my mum's old Mk1 Civic, car full of mates and camping gear into the Dales.

It’s almost a rite of passage. Early 90s and a Nova GTE, then off to the Durham Dales in my case. I feel so sorry for the families of these lads.

RIP

Man that is tragic. Me and a mate were doing a wales road trip at the weekend and both Saturday and Sunday near Ffestiniog , few miles from where these lads were found, the weather was truly biblical at times with the wind rain and fog.
2 well experienced drivers in prepped cars who have done the roads a few times were having a hard time of it, so I can well imagine my younger self in a typical teenagers car coming a cropper frown
I nearly had a van take me out head on as he aquaplaned / understeered onto my side of the road on a corner.

I thought I’d lost my mate at one point as I noticed he wasn’t in my rear view mirror anymore. I stopped and waited a minute. He didn’t appear. I suddenly got that awful sinking feeling, turned around and went back to go find him, fearing I’d find him buried in a rock face, ditch or off a ledge. Thankfully the dick had just stopped to take some photos.

That's bloody awful.

Just listening to Midlands Today and I'm sure they said one of the lads parents didn't know he'd gone off camping.

Can't quite think how something like that can just hit you out of the blue.

Very sad news.
Would it possibly have been a new driver, running before he could walk?

Could have been anything. Why speculate?

Poor lads. Feel for their families. Like many, I had lots of road trips with mates in those early years of driving. Hugely important memories and bonds made.

A few near misses through st driving and lack of experience but luckily made it through unscathed.

Rip lads
