beautiful 1967 Citroen DS 21 Pallas 1967

Sometimes, even after a lifetime in the motor trade, a car comes into stock that you just fall in love with.
For us at Motodrome, this beautiful 1967 (1968MY) Citroen DS21 Pallas is that car.
It represents one of the ‘sweet spots’ in the Citroen DS model lineup, as a) it’s a carburettor, manual transmission example, b) has the desirable ‘wave’ dashboard.
The 1968 model year saw the DS heavily redesigned, with the Robert Opron-penned headlamp arrangement with swivelling ‘cats eye’ main beams. This is one of the first of those cars.
For one year only, they carried the earlier, characterful dashboard in Gris Rose, before in 1969 moving to a more homogenised dash. Hence the 67/68 cars are very sought after by DS aficionados.
This one is the ‘Pallas’ model, meaning a higher trim level, and has the rare full leather interior along with all it’s Pallas body and interior fittings
As ever, the Hydropneumatic suspension provides an amazing ride and, with power steering and brakes. It’s really light and easy to drive. And I can confirm it really turns heads.
Internally, it’s beautiful period interior, with recent new headlining and carpets, is a great place to be, complemented by a period-looking stereo that’s been converted to a modern system with Bluetooth and USB, and rear seat belts.
ABW came to the UK from France in 1997, and it’s odometer shows 93000kms. It’s well-known in the DS community, having been looked after for most of it’s life in the UK by Brodie Engineering, with the odd trip to Hulins Ltd and Citroen Classics in between.
Brodie Engineering fitted the three things that are key to DS reliability – an uprated 70A alternator, 123 electronic ignition paired to a Bosch coil, and a Facet electric fuel pump.
We have a raft of history for ABW, including a file of bills from it’s earlier life in France from the mid 1980’s onwards. Recent highlights include new clutch and wiring loom.
We don’t think ABW has ever been totally restored or rebuilt as such, however it was given a high-quality repaint in 2016, and still presents beautifully.
ABW is ULEZ, MOT and tax exempt, and I can confirm there’s nothing cooler than a DS in Central London.
It runs and drives absolutely faultlessly – I did a 70-mile drive in it back from the Cotswolds, and that’s when my love for this wonderful car started.
On our own website, you'll find our usual 2 videos – a walkaround appraisal, and driving impressions, which form part of the description.
